Air Rope
Air Rope is an inflatable rescue tunnel for flood situations that offers a safer alternative to rope pulley systems.
The lives lost to natural disasters are increasing in number every year. Many are lost to flooding. Typically, when people are trapped on the wrong side of a flooded river, a rescuer must brave the torrent to cross the river and secure a pulley system in order to ferry victims across by rope. The safety of the rescuer is threatened, as well as that of the victims.
Air Rope is a rescue system that takes the form of an inflated tunnel. Air is pumped into a doughnut-shaped fabric tube that extends into a round tunnel. It can be used as a thoroughfare across a river when secured to the ground and a tree at each end. A motor and propeller create a powerful flow of air. The air nozzle has a screw-in profile to prevent air leakage. Aluminium alloy, which is light and strong, is used for the metal components. When deflated, the tube can be folded and packed into its storage case.
